From Romans chapter 1:14 (I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians), and 15:19 (I have fully preached the gospel of Christ), we are debtors to not only preach the gospel, but live the gospel before men. Selfishness is the mark of the Church today, if you have something, you must give it, we are debtors to all men.
God has made an investment in us; hear the parable of the talents. “Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.” Matthew 25:16-18
It was the man who refused to use what was invested in him that was rebuked. Hear his reply, “I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth” God has invested the gospel in us, it is a dangerous thing to hide this knowledge for fear of men. Knowledge is responsibility and we will give an account for our talent. We are debtors to every man to spread the gospel that we may offer to Christ a bountiful return for His investment in us.
