Such As I Have (audio – download)
Because many are refusing to take their stand on the Word of God for fear of persecution and the loss of popularity, much controversy has developed over the question “Do believers have power to heal the sick?”
In the tenth chapter of Matthew, Jesus called twelve men to help in the great work of bringing the Gospel to mankind. There was nothing in their personality that set them apart from other men. Matthew said, “When He had called unto Him, His twelve disciples He gave them power against all unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” (Matthew 10:1) Notice, “…He gave them power…” They received power. It wasn’t a theological commission to pray for the sick, but He gave them power. Power to heal all manner of sickness and disease, and to cast out every devil.
The Command of Christ Again He said, “And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils, freely ye have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:7-8) He didn’t say, “Go pray for the sick,” He said, “Go heal the sick.” These ordinary men through a commission of Jesus Christ, through an impartation of divine power, were able to go forth and cast out devils, heal the sick, cleanse the leper and raise the dead.
