Daren Downs and myself just returned from graduating the second School of Christ class in Bangladesh among the tribe leaders in the Hill Country. There are 77 different tribes in the nation of Bangladesh, and leaders from 9 tribes have attended the School of Christ. Our Bengali Director is working with over 50 of these tribes to bring them the School.
Each student took notes and listened to the SOC lessons intensely. You could see and feel the urgency in their prayer time. There is so much discouragement among the pastors and leaders because of the persecution against Christians in their tribes. Most of the population in these tribes are Muslim, Hindi, Buddhist, or Spiritism. However, the Bawm Tribe is the smallest tribe in Bangladesh, but they are almost all Christian. They go to the church every day at 4:30 a.m. to pray. They are dedicated to the cause of Christ. At the end of the School things had changed, pastors and leaders were revived, encouraged, and equipped to do the work God has called them to do.
God has given us the best possible School of Christ Director to be over Bangladesh, K. L. and his wife. They are sending missionaries with the Gospel into the refugee camp of the Rohingya people fleeing Myanmar. Life is very difficult for these people. They are forced to survive by basically living in the open air with no water or toilets in the camp. The refugees must wash dishes, clothes, and take a bath in the same stream that flows alongside their makeshift community. Many are sick or injured upon arrival. Many become sick from lack of fresh water after they arrive. There is also a great need for medical treatment. But, Praise the Lord, SOC workers are there with the Gospel!!
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” John 9:4. Pray and give to this School of Christ outreach as approximately 700,000 potential souls are dependent upon it!
