Myanmar Crisis Request

The following report contains two emails that I received this past week from Pastors in Myanmar concerning the current crisis facing that nation. Also, there is a local and worldwide outreach taking place now in Myanmar by Brother Somchai.

Not only has the military taken control of the nation, but China and George Soros both have a hand in influencing and funding these horriffic travesties, which are bringing suffering to the people and the church of Myanmar. Your prayers and help are urgently needed.

First Request: A prayer request from Pastor John, whom I met at the Conference scheduled last January in Maesot, Thailand, but was canceled due to the Covid19 pandemic. “We are experiencing great pressure as the military has taken over the country of Myanmar. In our area, sixty-two people have already been shot and killed by the military police, and over four thousand were put in jail. Everything is now completely shut down, and it is very difficult to find food for our families. Please pray for our safety and daily bread.”

Second Request: A request from Bro. Chowkee, Pastor of the Myanmar Christian Assembly, in Bangkok. We have worked with him for over fourteen years, teaching the Word of God to future pastors and leaders in Myanmar. The situation gets worse every day. “Hello Prayer Partners, the current situation in Yangon is getting worse. Today about fifty people have been shot and killed in our city. In the district where my dad lives, thirty people have been killed. The military leader announced MARSHALL LAW. We need your prayers more than ever before.”

Worldwide Outreach for Myanmar/Burma

Pastor Somchai

Pastor Somchai

Pastor Somchai, whom I have worked with for over twenty-four years, is conducting forty days of prayer and fasting while traveling around the entire Karen State in Myanmar. Joseph, who was the interpreter during the Karen School of Christ Schools, is traveling with him.

Through a mobile internet connection,  Brother Somchai will be in contact with all of the villages that have internet access through Zoom, and he will be doing in person training where possible. They will also be in touch with the Karen people worldwide living in 45 different countries. Brother Somchai will teach, pray, fast, and praying that revival will come to Myanmar/Burma, the Karen State, and other ethnic group areas: finally, praying that they will have real peace through Jesus Christ.

This has been a 70-year fight for freedom for the Karen and all the ethnic groups of Myanmar. We are asking for your prayer and financial support for this effort. The budget for the 4-month outreach is 200,000 baht or US$6,000.00.
