SOC Bolivia Report
Matthew 25:10 “But while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage; and the door was shut.”
Wherever God allows me to go in this fulfillment of the Great Commission, I hear the voice of the Lord saying, "Preparation." I do not believe we have enough time to prepare the bride. The return of our King is imminent. The nation of Bolivia is a door that the Lord has opened so that the church can receive this message of Pentecost. Since 2008, we have constantly worked with different pastoral groups, especially with pastors of the Assemblies of God.
Every year, we raise a significant harvest of men and women who come to be empowered by the message of Pentecost and come out with a vision of redeeming the time that we have left.
We held the School of Christ in the South in La Paz, in an area called Valencia. Twenty-eight students gathered at the church led by Pastor Juan Carlos, who welcomed us with much joy as host. He prepared the conditions and environments necessary for the School's healthy development.
Pastor Rodolfo, a student, testified, "I did not think God would confront me so strongly in this School of Christ. I have been through many theological schools, but nothing like the School of Christ. My ministry was in crisis, and now I see the cause. I need to return to the altar."
While I was having lunch, sitting next to Pastor David Condori, I asked him how he came to attend the School of Christ. He began to tell me about his experience. "A few days before the School began, my wife looked at me tenderly and said sweetly, ‘I think you need renewal of the Spirit. I believe that only in the School of Christ you will find it.’ That is exactly what I am experiencing: a renewal of the Spirit in my life. I am returning home with a different vision to empower my church with the Holy Spirit. God is good!"
Pastor Clendennen said, "Give a revived church to a dead man, and I will show you a preacher who killed it." What a great truth. Every morning and evening, the personal prayer times were filled with brokenness and tears. Every student was revived and filled with the Holy Spirit. I cannot stop thanking all the men who led this work in Bolivia, such as Pastor Arturo Casas, a tireless man of God.
Pastor Wilfredo Gomez is a man from the highlands of La Paz; He does not rest preaching this Gospel. I am grateful for the life of Pastor Edwin Cabrera, who spares nothing so that the work of God advances in his nation.
Finally, I am grateful for the life of Pastor Juan Bohorquez, who graduated in 2009 from the School of Christ and who is currently the president of the Assemblies of God in Bolivia. God is good!
We had a blind student attending this School. He was skilled with his computer and very attentive to each class. We were impressed with his enthusiasm and discipline despite his disability. He said, "I thought this School would be OK, but now my eyes have seen the Lord in every lesson I studied. I will seek God's presence with my family and preach this Gospel. I will never again feel sorry for myself because now I know what I received at the School of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit."
