SOC Prison Ministry Update
When I was a young Christian, I was introduced to some very destructive doctrine that devastated my personal prayer life and my ability to hear the Lord’s voice. By God’s grace, He moved us to Beaumont, Texas, in the mid-seventies, where we attended Victory Temple and Rev. B.H. Clendennen was our Pastor for several years. His influence in our lives set us back on a solid road to serve God and fulfill the call of ministry in our lives.
I began ministry at Bay Correctional Facility in Panama City, Florida, in the mid-nineties, and during that time, we introduced the School of Christ to the men incarcerated there. We had such positive results and conversions that eventually, this was implemented as a critical part of the faith-based program. I was a Chaplain there for about twelve years, and I was always amazed at the changes in these men as they progressed through the School of Christ study.
I have attached some of the testimonies I received from staff, volunteers, and inmates of how the SOC has impacted their lives.
Testimony of former Assistant Warden Elizabeth Keys:
It is my pleasure to support the School of Christ program. As Assistant Warden of Bay Correctional Facility, Panama City, Fl, from 2007 to 2014, I had the privilege to have this program offered to our inmate population and our Faith-Based dorm during that time. Teaching the gospel, encouraging a daily walk in Christ, and coming alongside each other in that walk is key to a changed heart and changed life. I’ve seen many changed lives through this program and wholeheartedly support the gift this is to our population.
Testimony of SOC Volunteer Helen Griffin:
I was introduced to The School of Christ by Chaplains Ross and Dorothy Hilton during their School of Christ Ministry in the prison setting. I have been a Christian for many years and was eager to help facilitate some of the classes. The School of Christ is so completely inspired by The Holy Spirit that it speaks loudly to both new converts and to those who have been students of the Bible for many years. While facilitating the classes for approximately two decades, my heart was often touched to see a terrible conflict gradually being changed into a growing hope. The students soon realized that if they would capitulate and give their lives entirely to Jesus, that small glimmer of hope could be set on fire by the Holy Spirit, assuring that they would be conquerors in the conflict. I see from time to time several of our graduates of the School out in the community. Their lives have been changed, and it is so thrilling to talk with them about the precious blood of Jesus. I personally thank God for men like B.H. Clendennen and the School of Christ International. Eternity will reveal its true value.
Testimonies of SOC Graduates:
The School of Christ is an awesome curriculum. It is chock full of practical wisdom that has greatly helped me navigate the Christian Life. Stephen M.
I learned from the School of Christ that embracing adversity in the midst of growing with Christ always leads to stronger faith. Seeing the hand of God on every corner is amazing, and I’m impacted by the support that He gives me through family, friends, and loved ones, especially the family of God. Archie S.
The School of Christ strengthened my faith in the centrality of Christ and His blood. It showed me that the Christian walk is more than praying the sinner’s prayer, being baptized, keeping the commandments, understanding mysteries, or even exhibiting Christian virtues. It led me to pursue a deeper personal fellowship with Jesus. It helped prepare me to be a soldier in the Kingdom, active in ministry, and ready myself to be poured out for the sake of the Gospel. Preston B.
The School of Christ has been more to me than just Bible study; it has been the leading builder of my spiritual growth with Jesus Christ. Brother Bert Clendennen taught me in ways that went straight to my heart and mind, with the Holy Spirit in agreement. My spirituality, beliefs, faith, and the feeling of oneness with Father God in Christ Jesus are such a blessing to this day. Even now, as I read my Bible and commentary, I think of the SOC because Brother Clendennen’s teachings were all in agreement with God’s Holy Word. The blessings I received from the SOC are a true gift from Jesus Christ. William F.
