Thailand Report

In keeping with our stated plans to share more School of Christ International testimonies from far reaching nations and peoples of the world, this report is from Director David Jacobson. Brother Jacobson is the director to Southeast Asia including Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Bangladesh and several other countries. This is the first installment of several months of reports to follow from this director. In this month’s issue reflects a part of his heart’s message, to me, about the greater work of the SOC.   Robert Turnage – SOC President

Despite the 2020 worldwide lock-downs, the church has and still is going forth. Whether by direct action or by a reorientation, God’s work continues even today. Jesus Christ and His Word are the same yesterday, today, and forever. He and His Word still reign today! Jesus said, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19)

The worldwide Coronavirus pandemic shut down churches globally, and missions were brought to a standstill; however, God was still the same. Fear has replaced what was thought to be faith, but true faith never fears. It is Jesus’ church, not man’s!  That spirit of fear suddenly and shockingly caused many (even the majority of ministers) to realize that they had been doing things their way and not the Lord’s way. Man had learned to trust in his own ability and not lean on the ability of God.  Unknowingly, tradition had crept in, and the power of the Gospel had departed.

The remnant church, our missions’ outreach, and the School of Christ were birthed for such a time as this!

God told Brother Somchai (our SOC Burmese director) to build a Prayer Mountain building in the area of northern Thailand for various local ethnic groups to come pray, fast, and study the Word of God. Amazingly, the people began to come even before the building was completed. Why? Isaiah 9:2, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” To date nineteen people have come to the Prayer Mountain facility,  have been saved, baptized, healed, filled with the Holy Ghost, and now study the Word of God.
