The antichrist
It would take volumes of books to properly and adequately address this Bible subject. In a few words, I will give a few Scriptural truths about this man, who, in his time, is to be revealed.
First, what is meant by the prefix "anti?" One meaning is "the instead of Christ." This evil man will be a substitute for Christ. 2 Thessalonians, chapter 2:3 & 8, shows how he will impersonate the real Christ. In chapter 4, the antichrist will claim to be god. This wicked one will come in place of Christ. He is the devil's counterpart and impersonator of Christ.
In his deceiving attempt to imitate and replace the real Christ, this man of sin hates Jesus Christ and His children. In Revelation 12, he is represented by the dragon who pursues the church's representative described as a woman. (A sincere study into these stated facts will become more apparent and further evidence of his intended deception and destruction). The antichrist "the instead of Christ" against the church is revealed in Revelation, chapter 13: 3, as one "wondered after" by the entire world. In Revelations 13:7, it reads, "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."
Thoughtful consideration of political and spiritual events in the world today gives crystal clear evidence of the antichrist's reality at work. John said in 1 John 2:18, "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." Yes, the spirit of the antichrist is in the world through his followers, believers, and workers, but it is foretold in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 of the antichrist personal appearing thusly, "...that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition."
The real Christ came in love, but the antichrist will be the personification of hate. Christ was, and is, in-dwelt by the Spirit of God. The antichrist will be filled with the spirit of Satan. Christ came to save, and the antichrist came to damn.
The ruin and destruction wrought by the antichrist will be unfathomable. It does not have to be that way for you. God cast the devil, and his fallen angels, out of heaven. He sent His Son to redeem all who would believe and accept His great salvation. Read and study the Word of God. Call upon the Lord for the forgiveness of sins. That way, you will not be deceived by the spirit of deception and be lost. Pray as did Paul in Philippians 3:10-11 "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead."
